Getting to know grand central New York

If you’re scheduled to attend an event to be held at a Grand Central conference room, then you’re in luck. You might find yourself in a Grand Central conference room with a spectacular view of 42nd Street or any of the fabulous landmarks of New York City.
Even if don’t have a meeting there, you have to make it point to drop by any part of the Grand Central because it’s not just a train station. This is one of the country’s historical architecture and every corner, tile, and stone has a story to tell.

This building was erected in 1871 by Cornelius Vanderbilt. He’s the guy who owned a lot of ships and his family is often referred almost as if like royalty.  By 1903, the building was torn down and re-opened in 1913. This is the Grand Central Station building we now see.
Since that year, the station has turned into one of the busiest in the U.S. and even with the 1954 talk of closing it down because of poor maintenance, it somehow was able to survive. By 1998, the local government unveiled a sparkling new restored Grand Central Station according to the 1913 design.
The first order when seeing this building for the first time is to gaze at it from across the street on 42nd Street.  From this vantage point, you also get to photograph the Chrysler Building to the east. The sense of awe everyone experiences when passing through the gates of the station for the first time is inspiring.
